eLearning Strategy & Planning
Overview
We help organizations plan learning experiences that are ready for efficient design and development. Our eCourse Strategy & Planning engagement is a focused program that defines content architecture, a design brief, and a development plan for an online degree, diploma, or other learning experience.
Simple Movement helps organizations plan, design, build, launch, and support effective digital learning experiences. We partner with organizations to turn training goals, curriculum, existing content, and early ideas into structured, accessible, trackable learning programs.
This program is delivered by our team of eLearning designers, developers, and project managers based in Hamilton, Ontario.

What the Strategy & Planning engagement includes
- A one-month strategy program that defines content architecture and produces a design and development plan for your learning experience. We structure the program so you leave with a clear content map and a practical plan for production.
- Team involvement: our engagement is supported by eLearning designers, developers, and project managers who coordinate the planning work and produce the planning artifacts.
Strategy & Planning may include:
- Discovery and stakeholder consultation
- Content review
- Curriculum mapping and learning architecture
- Development planning and production roadmapping
- Accessibility planning
- LMS planning
- KPI alignment
Typical process and timeline
We run the Strategy & Planning engagement as a concentrated, roughly one-month engagement with a sequence like the following (we tailor this to your needs):
- Discovery and intake — define goals, stakeholders, constraints, target learners, delivery model, timeline, accessibility requirements, platform needs, and success measures.
- Content architecture — map course/module structure, learning objectives, and learner journeys.
- Design brief and prototypes — create a design direction and example screens or storyboards for key interactions.
- Development plan and schedule — produce a scope, resource plan, timeline for the build phase, and a recommended production model and review process.
- Handover — deliver a package of artifacts for the development team (internal or external).
Our website describes a comprehensive 1-month program as the standard engagement length, and we work with you to adapt scope where needed.
Deliverables (what you can expect)
Typical outputs we produce for a Strategy & Planning engagement include:
- Content architecture (course and module map) and learning-objective alignment
- A design brief and example prototypes or storyboards for representative lessons
- A development plan that includes scope, resourcing, and a high-level timeline
- A prioritized backlog of content to author or convert for development
Because every program is different, the exact deliverables will be confirmed in the intake and scoping phase.
Making learning trackable (KPIs and reporting)
Strong digital learning should help organizations understand whether learners are participating, progressing, completing, and applying what they learn.
We can help structure learning experiences so they can be tracked against meaningful indicators, including:
- Enrolment
- Progress
- Completion
- Assessment performance
- Knowledge check results
- Learner engagement
- Certification
- Time in course
- Program milestones
- Workforce development outcomes
- Project-specific KPIs
For workforce development, applied training, and organizational learning programs, trackable learning helps leaders demonstrate reach, progress, quality, and value.
Technologies and platforms we work with
We work with common eLearning authoring tools, LMS platforms, multimedia tools, and digital learning technologies. Our team has experience with:
- Articulate Rise
- Articulate Storyline
- SCORM
- xAPI
- Moodle
- Canvas
- LearnDash
- TalentLMS
- WordPress-based learning environments
- Custom websites
- Digital learning portals
- Video and multimedia production workflows
We can advise on platform fit, LMS requirements, accessibility considerations, tracking needs, reporting, and implementation during planning.
Pricing and contracting
We do not publish fixed prices for the strategy program. Pricing and contract terms are determined by scope (audience size, number of courses/modules, depth of prototyping, and desired handover artifacts).

If you can, send us a brief project summary including:
- Your audience
- Learning goals
- Existing content
- Expected launch date
- Platform needs
- Accessibility requirements
- Any reporting or KPI expectations
We’ll review your goals and recommend a practical path forward.
Things to prepare before the engagement
- A list of target learners and learning goals
- Existing course materials or syllabi you want to reuse or convert
- Any technical constraints (LMS preference, accessibility requirements)
Notes and limitations
- The strategy program is intended to produce a clear plan and artifacts for production; it is not the same as full custom eLearning development (those services are scoped and contracted separately).
Our end-to-end process (from concept to launch)
For organizations that want support beyond planning, we use a clear, structured process to reduce risk and keep projects moving:
- Discovery — understand goals, audience, stakeholders, existing content, delivery model, timeline, accessibility requirements, platform needs, and success measures.
- Strategy and scope — define the recommended approach, project scope, deliverables, production model, review process, timeline, and resourcing.
- Learning design — organize the learning experience through curriculum mapping, learning outcomes, module structures, storyboards, learner journeys, assessment plans, and applied activities.
- Development and production — build the course or learning experience, create learning assets, develop multimedia, configure LMS components where scoped, and integrate accessibility considerations.
- Review, QA, and accessibility — review for content accuracy, usability, accessibility, technical performance, learner flow, and launch readiness.
- Launch and handoff — prepare LMS-ready files, implementation instructions, source files where included, QA notes, and handoff materials so your team can launch and maintain the learning experience.
- Ongoing support — support after launch through updates, new modules, LMS support, accessibility improvements, staff training, and future learning development projects.
